Better than a story

Good stories can last generations, centuries, millennia even. The Bible, the Iliad, Hamlet, these stories are made for the ages. So what’s better than creating a good story?

As I was watching the final episode of The Book of Boba Fett tonight, set on the planet of Tattooine and featuring a rich collection of different creatures, vehicles, buildings, outfits and weapons, I realized that what has even more impact than creating stories is creating worlds.

With Star Wars, George Lucas didn’t just make a sci-fi movie, he started an entire world that ignited our imagination. Now that world consists of many movies, TV series, animation, books, comics, games, toys. And this world is ever expanding (much to the joy of a fan like me).

A story has a beginning and an end. But a world is has no limits.
