Learning by doing
Why are kids better at learning than adults? They just do it. They jump into the pool and try the swimming stroke in the water, not on land.
Adults tend to think too much. They overanalyse. Ask questions. I think this is because they are scared to jump into the pool.
Their head is in the theory, while their body should be in practice. The more they think, the harder it becomes to go underwater.
Learning happens by feedback loops. The more loops, the faster we learn. It’s better to listen to the instructor once and then try it yourself five times than to start a whole conversation and only have time to try it once or twice.
I’m not saying we shouldn’t ask our teachers questions. I’m saying we can ask better questions once we’ve been underwater.
