Not new, too familiar
What’s good about Netflix is also what’s bad about Netflix: there is so much content to watch.
And so one night you find yourself watching the movie Interceptor. It’s a snackable 1 hour and 39 minutes. Action flick. High concept. A female hero. Sounded pretty good.
It wasn’t.
It was full of clichés, plot holes and completely improbable (yet very predictable) events. This movie is no exception. Netflix is full of movies and series like this. Formulaic, lazy filmmaking. Not new and much too familiar. Bad guys threatening to fire nuclear missiles at major cities in America? One person who single handedly has to defeat the terrorists? We’ve seen it all before.
But what’s bad about Netflix is also what’s good about Netflix. Because the nice thing about so much content is that there is always something my girlfriend and I can watch together. We can laugh and complain about the story together.
So go ahead Netflix, make more bad movies. Just make sure you make some good ones too.
